What moves the price
Concrete
The drain has to slope to the main drain, so the floor is cut and trenched. The length of that trench is the biggest variable.
Depth of the existing drain
If the fixtures sit below the sewer line, an ejector pump replaces gravity drainage and adds cost.
Fixtures now or later
In a single-family home, installing fixtures later does not need a plumbing permit when the rough-in was done under a permit.

Permits for this job
A rough-in needs a plumbing permit from the City of Calgary. A homeowner who owns and lives in the home can take out a homeowner permit ($116.50 in 2026) for work they do themselves; the City will not issue one for concealed plumbing done without a permit.
Plumber and Gasfitter are compulsory certification trades in Alberta: paid work is done by a certified journeyperson or a registered apprentice working under one. Ask to see the certificate.

Before you pay any deposit: an Alberta prepaid contracting licence (required when a business takes money before the work is finished), a WCB-Alberta clearance letter, and a written contract.
