What to Check Before You Hire

A journeyperson plumber or gasfitter certificate, since both are compulsory certification trades in Alberta
An Alberta prepaid contracting licence if the contractor takes any deposit (Service Alberta licence lookup)
A WCB-Alberta clearance letter showing their account is in good standing
A written contract with itemized prices, dates, the total with taxes and your cancellation rights
Who will take out the plumbing or gas permit, and that it is in the price
We do not screen or verify contractors, so check these yourself before you sign
